Hermann Clemens Kosel

Kosel was born in Dunkelthal, Bohemia, and died in Vienna. A commercial photographer, he began his career as the director (1891–1905) of the photography studio of Albert von Rothschild. Kosel opened his own studio in Vienna in 1906. From 1905 to 1909, he was editor of "Photo-Sport." He was considered one of the most prominent portrait photographers of turn-of-the-century Vienna. Kosel's publications include "Der Gummidruck" (The Gum-Bichromate Print"), 1896, and three "Kosel-Alben" (albums), collections of his photographs, published in 1906, 1910, and 1914. He had at least two one-man exhibitions, one in Vienna in 1907 and one in Dresden in 1909. [not from ULAN]
